Pakistan offers a rich cultural heritage and stunning natural landscapes, making it an appealing destination for travelers. Its tourism infrastructure is improving, with around 3,000 hotels available on TripAdvisor, indicating a readiness to host various visitors. Given that 2.1 million Slovenes travel abroad annually, a portion of them may find Pakistan an intriguing option for their travels.
Pakistan's safety for tourists, including those from Slovenia, presents some concerns. While Slovenia ranks 2nd in safety among 40 European countries and has a very low murder rate of 0.4 per 100,000 people, Pakistan is ranked 138th out of 160 countries on the Global Peace Index, with a significantly higher murder rate of 4.0 per 100,000 people. Crime indices also show a stark contrast: Slovenia generally scores better across various crime categories, while Pakistan scores higher on organized crime indices, indicating more prevalent issues such as human trafficking and arms trafficking. For instance, Pakistan scores 8.0 on human trafficking compared to Slovenia's 4.0. Overall, while many tourists visit Pakistan and have positive experiences, potential visitors should be aware of the safety concerns and prepare accordingly.
