Pakistan offers a rich cultural heritage and stunning natural landscapes, making it an appealing destination for travelers. Its evolving tourism infrastructure, with nearly 3,000 hotels listed on TripAdvisor, indicates a growing ability to cater to various visitor needs. Given that 4.8 million Saudis travel abroad annually, there is potential interest among some of them in visiting Pakistan.
Pakistan's safety for tourists, including those from Saudi Arabia, is a concern based on various safety indices. The Global Peace Index ranks Pakistan 138th out of 160 countries, indicating it is less safe than Saudi Arabia, which ranks 100th. In terms of crime statistics, the murder rate in Pakistan is significantly higher at 4.0 per 100,000 people compared to Saudi Arabia's 0.8. Additionally, the Global Organized Crime Index shows that Pakistan has higher scores in several categories, suggesting a greater prevalence of organized crime. For example, Pakistan scores 6.0 for mafia groups and 7.5 for crime networks, whereas Saudi Arabia scores 3.0 and 6.5, respectively. Overall, while tourism is possible in Pakistan, it is advisable for visitors to stay informed about local conditions and exercise caution.
