Pakistan offers a rich cultural heritage and stunning natural landscapes, making it an appealing destination for travelers. Its evolving tourism infrastructure, with nearly 3,000 hotels available on TripAdvisor, indicates a growing ability to cater to various visitor needs. Among the 11.6 million Romanians who travel abroad annually, a segment may find Pakistan an intriguing option to explore.
Pakistan presents certain safety concerns for tourists, including those from Romania. While Romania ranks 36th in safety according to the Global Peace Index, Pakistan is significantly lower at 138th out of 160 countries. The murder rate in Pakistan is 4.0 per 100,000 people, compared to Romania's much lower rate of 1.3. Additionally, various crime indices indicate higher risks in Pakistan, particularly in organized crime and human trafficking, where Pakistan scores worse than Romania. For example, Pakistan has a score of 8.0 for human trafficking and 8.5 for the heroin trade, compared to Romania's scores of 6.5 and 5.5, respectively. Overall, while travel to Pakistan is possible, tourists should exercise caution and stay informed about local conditions and safety measures.
