Pakistan offers a rich cultural heritage and stunning natural landscapes, making it an appealing destination for travelers. With a developing tourism infrastructure, including nearly 3,000 hotels on TripAdvisor, it is increasingly capable of catering to various visitor needs. Among the 200,000 Fijians who travel abroad annually, there is potential interest in exploring Pakistan.
Pakistan's safety for tourists, including those from Fiji, can be assessed through various crime statistics. The Global Peace Index ranks Pakistan 138th out of 160 countries, indicating a relatively low level of peace. In terms of murder rates, Pakistan has a rate of 4.0 per 100,000 people, compared to Fiji's lower rate of 2.2. The Global Organized Crime Index also highlights significant differences in crime prevalence. For example, mafia groups score 6.0 in Pakistan versus 1.0 in Fiji, and state crime is rated at 7.0 in Pakistan compared to 3.0 in Fiji. Human trafficking and arms trafficking are particularly concerning in Pakistan, with scores of 8.0 and 8.0, respectively, while Fiji scores much lower in these areas. Overall, while some areas of Pakistan may be safe for tourists, the higher crime rates and organized crime indices suggest that caution is advised for travelers from Fiji.
