Pakistan offers a rich cultural heritage and stunning natural landscapes, making it an appealing destination for some Bulgarian travelers. With an evolving tourism infrastructure, including nearly 3,000 hotels on TripAdvisor, it is increasingly equipped to host visitors. Among the 4.1 million Bulgarians who travel abroad annually, a portion may find Pakistan an intriguing option.
Pakistan's safety for tourists, including those from Bulgaria, presents some concerns. While Bulgaria ranks 21st among 40 European countries for safety when walking alone at night, there is no comparable data for Pakistan. The Global Peace Index places Pakistan at 138th out of 160 countries, indicating a lower safety level compared to Bulgaria, which ranks 26th. In terms of crime statistics, Bulgaria has a murder rate of 1.3 per 100,000 people, while Pakistan's rate is higher at 4.0. Organized crime indices also reflect greater challenges in Pakistan, with higher scores in areas such as human trafficking (8.0) and arms trafficking (8.0) compared to Bulgaria's scores (6.0 and 3.5, respectively). Overall, while travel to Pakistan is possible, tourists should be aware of the safety concerns and take appropriate precautions.
