Pakistan offers a rich cultural heritage and stunning natural landscapes, making it an appealing destination for some Belgian travelers. With its evolving tourism infrastructure, including nearly 3,000 hotels listed on TripAdvisor, the country is increasingly equipped to host visitors. Given that 8.6 million Belgians travel abroad annually, a portion may find Pakistan an intriguing option for their travels.
Pakistan's safety for tourists, including those from Belgium, is a concern based on various safety rankings and crime statistics. Belgium ranks 16th in the Global Peace Index, while Pakistan is much lower at 138th out of 160 countries. The murder rate in Belgium is significantly lower at 1.1 per 100,000 people compared to Pakistan's 4.0. Additionally, the Global Organized Crime Index indicates that Belgium generally has better scores across various crime categories, such as mafia groups (3.0 in Belgium vs. 6.0 in Pakistan) and human trafficking (5.0 in Belgium vs. 8.0 in Pakistan). Overall, while some tourists do visit Pakistan, they should be aware of the safety concerns and take necessary precautions.
