Peru is an appealing destination for Brazilian travelers, featuring a rich blend of history and natural beauty. Iconic sites like Machu Picchu, the Andes, and the Amazon rainforest attract tourists seeking unique experiences. With 10.6 million Brazilians traveling internationally each year, a portion is likely to consider Peru for their travels.
Peru is generally considered safer for tourists compared to Brazil. According to the Global Peace Index, Peru ranks 97th out of 160 countries, while Brazil ranks 129th. The murder rates also reflect this difference, with Brazil having a rate of 22.5 per 100,000 people compared to Peru's much lower rate of 5.7. In terms of organized crime, while both countries face challenges, the indices indicate that Brazil generally has higher levels of organized crime compared to Peru. For example, Brazil has a mafia group index of 7.5, while Peru's is 6.0. Overall, while no destination is without risk, Peru presents a relatively safer environment for tourists coming from Brazil.
