Oman offers stunning landscapes and a rich cultural heritage, making it an appealing destination for some travelers from Cyprus. While the number of foreign visitors to Oman is relatively modest compared to larger tourist destinations, it provides a unique experience that could attract a portion of the 500,000 Cypriots who travel abroad annually.
Oman is considered a safe destination for tourists, including those coming from Cyprus. According to the Global Peace Index, Oman ranks 37th out of 160 countries, indicating a high level of safety, while Cyprus ranks 86th. Additionally, Oman has a significantly lower murder rate of 0.2 per 100,000 people compared to Cyprus's 1.3. In terms of organized crime, Oman scores better in several categories, such as mafia groups (Oman 1.0 vs. Cyprus 3.5) and foreign crime (Oman 3.5 vs. Cyprus 7.0). While both countries face challenges with crime, Oman generally presents a safer environment for tourists.
