Oman offers breathtaking landscapes and a rich cultural heritage, making it an appealing destination for some Bruneians. While its visitor numbers are modest compared to larger tourism markets, Oman stands out as a unique travel option that diverges from typical itineraries.
Oman is considered a safe destination for tourists, including those from Brunei. According to the Global Peace Index, Oman ranks 37th out of 160 countries, indicating a relatively peaceful environment. In terms of crime statistics, Oman has a lower murder rate of 0.2 per 100,000 people compared to Brunei's 0.5. Additionally, both countries have low female murder rates, with Oman again at 0.2 versus Brunei's 1.2. Regarding organized crime, both Brunei and Oman score well on mafia presence (1.0), but Oman has higher indices for crime networks (5.0) and state crime (4.0), suggesting some challenges in these areas. However, Oman generally maintains a stable and secure atmosphere for visitors, making it a suitable travel destination for tourists from Brunei.
