New Zealand offers captivating natural beauty and a rich cultural heritage, making it an appealing destination for some Turkish visitors. With 2.7 million Turks traveling abroad annually, there is potential for a segment of this population to be drawn to New Zealand. Despite fluctuations in foreign tourist numbers, the country presents various opportunities within its tourism sector.
New Zealand is generally considered a very safe destination for tourists, including those from Türkiye. According to the Global Peace Index, New Zealand ranks 4th out of 160 countries, indicating a high level of safety, while Türkiye ranks 137th. In terms of crime statistics, the murder rates are similar, with Türkiye at 2.5 per 100,000 people and New Zealand at 2.6. However, New Zealand has significantly lower scores in organized crime indices, suggesting a more stable environment. For instance, New Zealand scores 1.5 for state crime compared to Türkiye's 9.0, and it has lower indices for various forms of trafficking and organized crime. Overall, tourists from Türkiye can expect a safer experience in New Zealand compared to their home country, with lower risks associated with violent crime and organized criminal activities.
