New Zealand offers captivating natural beauty and a rich cultural heritage, making it an appealing destination for some Saudi visitors. With 4.8 million Saudis traveling abroad annually, there is potential for a segment of this population to be attracted to New Zealand, despite fluctuations in overall foreign tourist numbers.
New Zealand is considered one of the safest countries for tourists, including those from Saudi Arabia. It ranks 4th out of 160 countries in the Global Peace Index, significantly safer than Saudi Arabia, which ranks 100th. In terms of crime statistics, New Zealand has a murder rate of 2.6 per 100,000 people, compared to Saudi Arabia's rate of 0.8. While New Zealand's female murder rate is 1.1, Saudi Arabia's is lower at 0.3. According to the Global Organized Crime Index, New Zealand generally fares better in various crime categories. For example, it has a lower state crime index (1.5 for New Zealand vs. 8.0 for Saudi Arabia) and lower indices for human trafficking and smuggling. Overall, tourists from Saudi Arabia can feel relatively safe traveling to New Zealand, given its high safety rankings and lower levels of organized crime.
