New Zealand offers captivating natural beauty and diverse cultural heritage, making it an appealing destination for some Bruneians. Although foreign tourist numbers have varied, the spending patterns indicate significant opportunities in the tourism sector.
New Zealand is considered a safe destination for tourists, including those from Brunei. It ranks 4th in the Global Peace Index among 160 countries, indicating a high level of safety. While the murder rate in New Zealand is higher than in Brunei (2.6 vs. 0.5 per 100,000 people), it remains relatively low by global standards. In terms of organized crime, Brunei generally scores better than New Zealand, particularly in areas like mafia presence and human trafficking. However, New Zealand has lower indices for state crime and resource crime, suggesting a more stable environment in those aspects. Overall, while there are some differences in crime statistics, New Zealand is a safe and welcoming place for tourists.
