Nauru offers a unique tourism experience shaped by its geography and cultural richness. Despite its small size and limited hotel options, it may appeal to a segment of Malaysia's 34 million population seeking an unconventional destination.
Nauru is generally considered safe for tourists, including those from Malaysia. While there is no specific crime data available for Nauru, it has lower indices for organized crime compared to Malaysia. According to the Global Organized Crime Index, Nauru scores significantly better in various categories, such as mafia groups (1.0 for Nauru vs. 4.5 for Malaysia) and human trafficking (1.5 for Nauru vs. 6.5 for Malaysia). Additionally, Malaysia has a murder rate of 0.7 per 100,000 people, while Nauru's rate is not available, suggesting it may be low. Overall, while travelers should always exercise caution, Nauru appears to be a safer destination compared to Malaysia based on available crime statistics.
