Nepal is an appealing destination for some travelers from Singapore, thanks to its rich culture and stunning natural scenery in the Himalayas. Although the country has faced challenges in attracting a steady stream of international visitors, a portion of the approximately 800,000 Singaporeans who travel abroad annually may find Nepal intriguing.
Nepal is generally considered a relatively safe destination for tourists, ranking 78th out of 160 countries on the Global Peace Index. However, it is significantly less safe compared to Singapore, which ranks 5th. In terms of crime statistics, Singapore has a notably low murder rate of 0.1 per 100,000 people, while Nepal's rate is higher at 2.1. The Global Organized Crime Index also reflects this disparity, with Singapore scoring better across various categories, such as mafia groups (3.0 in Singapore vs. 4.5 in Nepal) and state crime (1.5 in Singapore vs. 8.5 in Nepal). While tourists can enjoy their visit to Nepal, it's advisable to remain vigilant and informed about local safety conditions.
