Nepal presents a captivating blend of cultural richness and stunning natural scenery, appealing to many travelers. Despite recent challenges in attracting international visitors, it remains a potential destination for some of the 1.8 million Luxembourgers who travel abroad annually.
Nepal can be considered moderately safe for tourists from Luxembourg, though there are some differences in safety statistics between the two countries. Luxembourg has a very low murder rate of 0.6 per 100,000 people, while Nepal's rate is higher at 2.1. In terms of organized crime, Luxembourg scores significantly better across various categories, with indices indicating lower levels of mafia presence, crime networks, and state crime compared to Nepal. According to the Global Peace Index, Nepal ranks 78th out of 160 countries, suggesting a relatively peaceful environment, although it is less safe than Luxembourg, which is not ranked in this index. Tourists should remain vigilant and informed about their surroundings while traveling in Nepal, as crime rates and safety conditions can vary by region. Overall, while there are safety concerns, many tourists visit Nepal without incident, enjoying its rich culture and natural beauty.
