Head of mission: Mr. Jimmy Ibrahim Askar, Honorary Consul (as of 2010)
Nepal is an appealing destination for some of Kenya's 54 million residents, thanks to its rich culture and stunning natural scenery. However, recent challenges have affected the steady flow of international tourists to the country.
Nepal is generally considered a relatively safe destination for tourists, including those coming from Kenya. According to the Global Peace Index, Nepal ranks 78th out of 160 countries, which is significantly better than Kenya's ranking of 120th. In terms of crime statistics, Nepal has a murder rate of 2.1 per 100,000 people, compared to Kenya's rate of 5.3. This indicates a lower level of violent crime in Nepal. The Global Organized Crime Index also reflects that Nepal faces less organized crime compared to Kenya, with lower indices in several categories. For instance, Nepal scores 4.5 for mafia groups, while Kenya scores 7.0. Overall, while no destination is without risks, Nepal is statistically safer than Kenya for tourists.
