Nepal boasts a rich cultural heritage and stunning natural scenery, making it an appealing destination for some Greek travelers. While the country has faced challenges in attracting a steady stream of international visitors, there is potential interest among the 2 million Greeks who travel abroad annually.
Nepal is generally considered a relatively safe destination for tourists, including those from Greece. According to the Global Peace Index, Nepal ranks 78th out of 160 countries, while Greece is ranked 40th, indicating that Greece is safer overall. In terms of crime statistics, Greece has a lower murder rate at 0.9 per 100,000 people compared to Nepal's 2.1. Additionally, various organized crime indices show that Greece performs better in areas such as mafia presence and state crime. For instance, Greece scores 3.0 for mafia groups, while Nepal scores 4.5. While tourists from Greece can visit Nepal with a reasonable level of safety, they should remain aware of their surroundings and take standard precautions, as the crime rates and organized crime indices suggest some challenges.
