Nepal is an appealing destination for some Chinese travelers due to its rich culture and stunning natural scenery. Despite facing challenges in attracting a consistent flow of international visitors, the country could capture the interest of a portion of the 20.3 million Chinese tourists who travel abroad annually.
Nepal is generally considered a safe destination for tourists, including those from China. According to the Global Peace Index, Nepal ranks 78th out of 160 countries, which is safer than China, ranked 87th. In terms of crime statistics, the murder rate in Nepal is 2.1 per 100,000 people, compared to China's 0.5. Additionally, the Global Organized Crime Index indicates that while both countries face challenges, Nepal's indices for organized crime are lower in some areas, such as mafia groups (4.5 in Nepal vs. 7.0 in China) and human trafficking (7.0 in Nepal vs. 6.5 in China). Overall, while Nepal has its own crime issues, it is relatively safe for tourists compared to China, making it a viable travel option.
