The Netherlands offers a captivating mix of canals, tulip fields, windmills, and historic cities, making it a notable destination for international tourism. Its combination of urban elegance and rural beauty appeals to many travelers, including a segment of the 2.7 million Turks who travel abroad annually. Consequently, it has the potential to attract a considerable number of visitors from Türkiye.
The Netherlands is considered one of the safest countries in Europe for tourists, including those from Türkiye. It ranks 9th out of 40 countries for safety while walking alone at night, significantly safer than Türkiye, which ranks 31st. Additionally, the Netherlands holds the 18th position out of 160 countries in the Global Peace Index, compared to Türkiye's 137th rank. In terms of crime statistics, the murder rate in the Netherlands is notably lower at 0.7 per 100,000 people, while Türkiye has a rate of 2.5. Female murder rates also reflect this trend, with the Netherlands at 0.4 and Türkiye at 1.0. According to the Global Organized Crime Index, the Netherlands scores better in various categories, such as mafia groups (4.5 vs. 8.0 for Türkiye) and state crime (2.5 vs. 9.0 for Türkiye), indicating a lower prevalence of organized crime. Overall, tourists from Türkiye can feel relatively safe when visiting the Netherlands, given its lower crime rates and higher safety rankings.
