The Netherlands is an appealing destination for many Lithuanian travelers, thanks to its picturesque canals, tulip fields, windmills, and historic cities. With around 700,000 Lithuanians traveling abroad annually, a portion of them may find the country's mix of urban elegance and rural charm particularly enticing.
The Netherlands is considered a very safe destination for tourists, including those from Lithuania. It ranks 9th out of 40 European countries for safety while walking alone at night, significantly safer than Lithuania, which ranks 24th. Additionally, the Global Peace Index places the Netherlands 18th out of 160 countries, again showing it as safer than Lithuania, which is ranked 31st. In terms of crime statistics, the murder rate in the Netherlands is notably lower, at 0.7 per 100,000 people, compared to Lithuania's 2.6. Female murder rates also reflect this trend, with the Netherlands at 0.4 versus Lithuania at 1.5. When looking at organized crime indices, the Netherlands generally has higher scores (indicating more concern) in areas like crime networks and human trafficking compared to Lithuania. However, its overall crime environment is still considered safer. In summary, tourists from Lithuania can feel relatively safe visiting the Netherlands, as it has lower crime rates and is ranked higher in safety metrics.
