Nigeria offers a unique experience for travelers, showcasing its rich culture and beautiful landscapes. While it attracts a moderate number of tourists overall, it could appeal to a segment of the 10.4 million Thais who travel internationally each year. Some Thai visitors may find Nigeria an intriguing destination.
Nigeria presents certain safety concerns for tourists, especially when compared to Thailand. According to the Global Peace Index, Nigeria ranks 144th out of 160 countries, while Thailand is ranked 73rd. The murder rate in Nigeria is significantly higher at 22.0 per 100,000 people, compared to Thailand's 4.9. Additionally, the Global Organized Crime Index indicates that Nigeria faces various challenges, with higher scores in areas such as crime networks (9.0 for Nigeria vs. 5.0 for Thailand) and arms trafficking (8.0 for Nigeria vs. 5.5 for Thailand). Overall, while many tourists visit Nigeria, it is advisable for travelers from Thailand to exercise caution and stay informed about safety conditions when planning their visit.
