Nigeria offers a vibrant cultural experience and beautiful landscapes, making it an intriguing option for some Russian travelers. While the overall number of tourists is moderate, the annual 12.4 million Russians traveling abroad suggests that a segment may find Nigeria appealing.
Nigeria presents certain safety concerns for tourists, including those from Russia. According to the Global Peace Index, Nigeria ranks 144th out of 160 countries, while Russia is slightly lower at 154th. In terms of murder rates, Nigeria has a significantly higher rate at 22.0 per 100,000 people compared to Russia's 6.8. Crime indices also indicate that Nigeria faces challenges, with organized crime and trafficking issues being more pronounced than in Russia. For instance, Nigeria scores higher in crime networks (9.0) and arms trafficking (8.0) compared to Russia's scores of 7.5 and 4.5, respectively. While there is no specific data on safety for tourists walking alone at night in Nigeria, the overall crime environment suggests that visitors should exercise caution and stay informed about their surroundings.
