Nigeria is a vibrant and diverse nation with a rich cultural heritage and beautiful landscapes, making it an intriguing option for tourists. However, it currently experiences a moderate level of tourist arrivals. As such, it may appeal to a specific segment of Mozambique's 33 million population.
Nigeria presents a higher safety risk for tourists compared to Mozambique. According to the Global Peace Index, Nigeria ranks 144th out of 160 countries, while Mozambique is ranked 106th. The murder rate in Nigeria is significantly higher at 22.0 per 100,000 people, compared to Mozambique's 3.5. Additionally, the Global Organized Crime Index indicates that Nigeria has more severe issues with organized crime, with indices showing higher levels of crime networks (9.0 for Nigeria vs. 8.0 for Mozambique) and human trafficking (7.5 for Nigeria vs. 4.0 for Mozambique). Overall, tourists from Mozambique should exercise caution when considering travel to Nigeria due to these safety concerns.
