Nigeria is a vibrant and diverse nation with a rich cultural tapestry and stunning natural landscapes, yet it attracts a moderate number of tourists. It may appeal to a segment of the 26 million North Koreans, but overall, its attractiveness as a destination for visitors from North Korea is limited.
Nigeria presents certain safety concerns for tourists, including those from North Korea. According to the Global Peace Index, Nigeria is ranked 144th out of 160 countries, while North Korea is slightly lower at 149th, indicating similar levels of safety. Regarding crime statistics, Nigeria has a murder rate of 22.0 per 100,000 people, though data for North Korea is not available. The Global Organized Crime Index reveals that Nigeria has higher indices for various crime categories compared to North Korea, such as organized crime networks (9.0 for Nigeria vs. 2.0 for North Korea) and state crime (7.5 for Nigeria vs. 10.0 for North Korea). Overall, while both countries face significant safety challenges, Nigeria may present a more complex environment for tourists due to higher crime rates and organized crime activities. Visitors should exercise caution and stay informed about local conditions.
