Nigeria offers a vibrant cultural experience and beautiful landscapes, making it a potentially appealing destination for some Indonesian travelers. While the overall tourist arrivals are moderate, a segment of the 500,000 Indonesians who travel abroad annually may find Nigeria an interesting option to explore.
Nigeria presents significant safety concerns for tourists, particularly when compared to Indonesia. The Global Peace Index ranks Nigeria 144th out of 160 countries, indicating a lower safety level than Indonesia, which ranks 47th. Crime statistics highlight this disparity: Nigeria has a murder rate of 22.0 per 100,000 people, while Indonesia's rate is just 0.6. Additionally, the Global Organized Crime Index shows that Nigeria faces higher levels of organized crime, with indices indicating more severe issues in areas such as crime networks and arms trafficking compared to Indonesia. Overall, while tourism is possible in Nigeria, travelers should exercise caution and stay informed about safety conditions.
