Nigeria is a vibrant and diverse nation with a rich cultural heritage and beautiful landscapes, making it an intriguing option for travelers. However, it currently experiences a moderate level of tourist arrivals. As such, it may appeal to a segment of the approximately 2 million people in Guinea Bissau.
Nigeria presents a higher safety risk for tourists compared to Guinea Bissau. According to the Global Peace Index, Nigeria ranks 144th out of 160 countries, while Guinea Bissau is ranked 83rd. The murder rate in Nigeria is significantly higher at 22.0 per 100,000 people, compared to Guinea Bissau's 1.1. Additionally, the Global Organized Crime Index indicates that Nigeria faces more challenges with organized crime, with indices showing higher levels of mafia groups (5.5 vs. 1.0), crime networks (9.0 vs. 8.0), and various forms of trafficking and smuggling. Overall, tourists from Guinea Bissau should exercise caution when traveling to Nigeria due to these safety concerns.
