Nigeria offers a vibrant and diverse experience, showcasing rich culture and beautiful landscapes. While it currently attracts a moderate number of tourists, it could appeal to a segment of the 10.6 million Brazilians who travel abroad annually, making it a potentially interesting destination for some.
Nigeria has a safety ranking of 144th out of 160 countries according to the Global Peace Index, which indicates it is less safe than Brazil, ranked 129th. The murder rates are similar, with Brazil at 22.5 per 100,000 people and Nigeria at 22.0. However, various crime indices suggest that Nigeria has higher levels of organized crime and crime networks compared to Brazil. For instance, Nigeria scores 9.0 for crime networks, while Brazil scores 6.5. Additionally, Nigeria has higher scores in areas such as human trafficking and smuggling. Overall, while Nigeria's murder rate is comparable to Brazil's, the broader context of organized crime and safety concerns suggests that tourists from Brazil should exercise caution when traveling to Nigeria.
