Nigeria offers a vibrant and diverse experience, making it an intriguing option for some Bulgarian travelers. While the country boasts a rich cultural heritage and beautiful landscapes, it currently attracts a moderate number of tourists. Given that 4.1 million Bulgarians travel abroad annually, a portion may find Nigeria appealing as a travel destination.
Nigeria presents significant safety concerns for tourists, including those from Bulgaria. While Bulgaria ranks 21st in safety among European countries, Nigeria is ranked much lower at 144th out of 160 countries according to the Global Peace Index. The murder rate in Nigeria is notably high at 22.0 per 100,000 people, compared to Bulgaria's low rate of 1.3. Additionally, various crime indices indicate higher levels of organized crime and violence in Nigeria, with scores reflecting a more dangerous environment. For example, Nigeria scores 9.0 for crime networks, compared to Bulgaria's 6.5. Overall, tourists should exercise caution and stay informed about safety conditions when considering travel to Nigeria.
