Mozambique offers a compelling destination for some Zimbabwean travelers, featuring beautiful coastlines along the Indian Ocean and a rich cultural heritage. While it attracts a modest number of international visitors annually, its unique blend of natural beauty and cultural experiences is increasingly appealing. With 3.3 million Zimbabweans traveling abroad each year, a portion may find Mozambique an interesting option to explore.
Mozambique is relatively safe for tourists coming from Zimbabwe, as it ranks higher in safety according to the Global Peace Index, with Mozambique at 106th and Zimbabwe at 119th. The murder rate in Mozambique is lower at 3.5 per 100,000 people compared to Zimbabwe's 6.1. However, both countries face challenges with organized crime, with Mozambique generally scoring slightly worse in certain areas, such as crime networks and state crime. For instance, Mozambique has a crime network index of 8.0 compared to Zimbabwe's 7.5. Overall, while tourists should remain cautious and informed, Mozambique presents a safer option than Zimbabwe based on these statistics.
