Mozambique offers a unique appeal for Malaysian visitors, featuring beautiful coastlines along the Indian Ocean and a rich cultural heritage. While it attracts a relatively small number of international tourists annually, its blend of natural beauty and cultural vibrancy makes it an intriguing option for a segment of Malaysia's 34 million population.
Mozambique has a safety ranking that is notably lower than Malaysia's. According to the Global Peace Index, Mozambique ranks 106th out of 160 countries, while Malaysia is much safer at 10th place. The murder rate in Mozambique is significantly higher at 3.5 per 100,000 people compared to Malaysia's 0.7. In terms of organized crime, Mozambique scores worse in several categories. For example, crime networks in Mozambique have a score of 8.0, while Malaysia's score is 5.5. Additionally, state crime in Mozambique is rated at 9.0, compared to Malaysia's 6.0. Overall, while tourists can visit Mozambique, they should be aware of the higher crime rates and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety.
