Malaysia offers a unique combination of natural beauty and cultural heritage, making it an appealing destination for some Yemenis. Although international visitor numbers are currently modest, ongoing infrastructure improvements and a variety of attractions indicate strong potential for growth in tourism from Yemen.
Malaysia is generally considered a safe destination for tourists, including those from Yemen. According to the Global Peace Index, Malaysia ranks 10th out of 160 countries, making it significantly safer than Yemen, which ranks last at 160th. In terms of crime statistics, Malaysia has a much lower murder rate of 0.7 per 100,000 people compared to Yemen's 6.8. The Global Organized Crime Index also reflects this disparity, with Malaysia scoring better in several categories, such as mafia groups (Malaysia 4.5 vs. Yemen 8.0) and crime networks (Malaysia 5.5 vs. Yemen 7.0). While no country is without risks, overall, Malaysia offers a safer environment for tourists compared to Yemen.
