Malaysia offers a unique combination of natural beauty and cultural heritage, making it an appealing destination for some of Serbia's 7 million residents. Although international visitor numbers are currently modest, ongoing infrastructure improvements and a variety of attractions indicate strong potential for growth in tourism from Serbia.
Malaysia is generally considered safe for tourists, including those from Serbia. According to the Global Peace Index, Malaysia ranks 10th out of 160 countries, indicating a high level of safety, while Serbia ranks 53rd. In terms of murder rates, Malaysia has a lower rate at 0.7 per 100,000 people compared to Serbia's 1.1. Crime indices from the Global Organized Crime Index show that Malaysia performs better in several categories, including mafia groups (4.5 vs. Serbia's 6.0) and arms trafficking (5.5 vs. Serbia's 7.5). However, some areas, such as fauna crime, show Malaysia with a higher score (8.0) compared to Serbia (4.0), indicating more challenges in that category.
