Malaysia offers a unique combination of natural beauty and cultural heritage, making it an increasingly appealing destination for travelers. Although international visitor numbers are currently modest, ongoing infrastructure improvements and a variety of attractions suggest strong potential for growth. This makes Malaysia an interesting option for a segment of Qatar's population of 3 million.
Malaysia is generally considered a safe destination for tourists, including those from Qatar. According to the Global Peace Index, Malaysia ranks 10th out of 160 countries, making it one of the safest countries in the world, even safer than Qatar, which ranks 29th. In terms of crime statistics, the murder rate in Malaysia is 0.7 per 100,000 people, compared to Qatar's low rate of 0.3. While Malaysia has higher rates in certain organized crime indices, it is important to note that overall violent crime remains relatively low. Tourists should remain aware of their surroundings and take standard safety precautions, but Malaysia is a welcoming and safe place for visitors.
