Malaysia offers a unique mix of natural beauty and cultural heritage, making it an appealing destination for travelers. Although the current number of international visitors is modest, ongoing infrastructure improvements and a variety of attractions indicate strong growth potential. With 1.8 million Luxembourgers traveling abroad annually, a portion may find Malaysia an intriguing option to explore.
Malaysia is generally considered safe for tourists, including those from Luxembourg. While Luxembourg ranks 27th among 40 European countries for safety when walking alone at night, Malaysia holds a higher position, ranked 10th out of 160 countries in the Global Peace Index. In terms of crime statistics, the murder rate is slightly higher in Malaysia at 0.7 per 100,000 people compared to Luxembourg's 0.6. However, organized crime indices indicate that Luxembourg has a significantly lower prevalence of organized crime compared to Malaysia, with Malaysia scoring higher in various categories such as mafia groups and human trafficking. Overall, while there are some safety concerns, many tourists visit Malaysia without issues. It's advisable for travelers to stay informed and exercise standard precautions.
