Malaysia offers a compelling mix of natural beauty and cultural heritage, positioning it as an appealing destination for Bruneians. Although international visitor numbers are currently modest, ongoing infrastructure improvements and a variety of attractions indicate strong potential for future growth in tourism from Brunei.
Malaysia is generally considered safe for tourists, including those from Brunei. According to the Global Peace Index, Malaysia ranks 10th out of 160 countries, indicating a relatively high level of safety. In terms of crime statistics, the murder rate in Malaysia is 0.7 per 100,000 people, compared to Brunei's 0.5. While Malaysia has higher indices for organized crime compared to Brunei, with scores ranging from 4.5 to 8.0 across various categories, it is important to note that these indices reflect a broader context of crime rather than direct threats to tourists. Overall, while caution is always advisable when traveling, Malaysia remains a popular destination for tourists and is considered safe for visitors from Brunei.
