Mexico offers a rich cultural heritage and stunning natural landscapes, making it an appealing destination for international tourists. Its diverse tourism sector caters to various interests, positioning it as a prominent global tourist hotspot. While it may attract a segment of Mongolia's 3 million population, the overall appeal will vary among individuals.
Mexico's safety for tourists, particularly those coming from Mongolia, presents some concerns. According to the Global Peace Index, Mexico ranks 136th out of 160 countries, significantly lower than Mongolia, which ranks 44th. In terms of crime statistics, the murder rate in Mexico is notably higher, with 28.2 murders per 100,000 people compared to Mongolia's 6.2. Female murder rates also reflect this disparity: Mongolia has a rate of 2.5, while Mexico's is 6.2. The Global Organized Crime Index further highlights the challenges in Mexico, with high scores indicating severe issues related to organized crime. For instance, Mexico scores 9.0 for mafia groups and crime networks, while Mongolia scores much lower at 2.0 and 4.5, respectively. Overall, while many tourists visit Mexico without incident, it is advisable for travelers from Mongolia to exercise caution and stay informed about safety measures when planning their visit.
