Mexico offers a rich cultural heritage and stunning natural landscapes, making it an appealing destination for international tourists. Its diverse tourism sector caters to various preferences, solidifying its status as a top global tourist spot. Given that 800,000 Jordanians travel abroad annually, a portion may find Mexico to be an intriguing option for their travels.
Mexico's safety for tourists, particularly those coming from Jordan, is a concern based on various safety indices. The Global Peace Index ranks Mexico 136th out of 160 countries, significantly lower than Jordan, which ranks 65th. Crime statistics highlight the disparity in safety: Mexico's murder rate stands at 28.2 per 100,000 people, compared to Jordan's 1.0. Female murder rates also reflect this trend, with Mexico at 6.2 and Jordan at 0.6. Furthermore, the Global Organized Crime Index indicates that Mexico faces severe challenges with organized crime, scoring poorly across various categories. For instance, Mexico scores 9.0 for mafia groups and 9.0 for crime networks, while Jordan scores much better at 1.5 and 7.0, respectively. Overall, while tourism in Mexico is possible, it is essential for travelers from Jordan to exercise caution and stay informed about safety measures.
