Mexico presents certain safety concerns for tourists, including those from Israel. According to the Global Peace Index, Mexico ranks 136th out of 160 countries, which is better than Israel's ranking of 152nd. However, crime statistics reveal significant differences in safety. The murder rate in Mexico is 28.2 per 100,000 people, compared to Israel's much lower rate of 1.9. Additionally, the Global Organized Crime Index indicates that Mexico faces severe challenges with organized crime, scoring poorly in various categories such as mafia groups (9.0), crime networks (9.0), and drug trafficking (cocaine trade at 9.0).
