Mexico offers a rich cultural heritage and stunning natural scenery, making it an appealing destination for international tourists. Its diverse tourism options cater to various interests, positioning it as a top global tourist hotspot. Given that approximately 1 million Azerbaijanis travel abroad annually, a portion of them may find Mexico an intriguing destination.
Mexico's safety for tourists, including those from Azerbaijan, is a concern. According to the Global Peace Index, Mexico ranks 136th out of 160 countries, which is lower than Azerbaijan's rank of 104th. The murder rate in Mexico is significantly higher, at 28.2 per 100,000 people, compared to Azerbaijan's 1.9. Additionally, crime indices reveal that Mexico faces serious challenges with organized crime, scoring poorly in areas such as mafia presence (9.0) and drug trafficking (cocaine trade at 9.0), while Azerbaijan scores better overall in these categories. Tourists should exercise caution and stay informed about safety conditions when traveling to Mexico.
