Mauritius is an appealing destination for some Turkish travelers, thanks to its stunning beaches, lush scenery, and rich cultural diversity. With 2.7 million Turks traveling abroad annually, a portion of this demographic may find Mauritius an attractive option for leisure and adventure.
Mauritius is generally considered safe for tourists, including those from Türkiye. According to the Global Peace Index, Mauritius ranks 22nd out of 160 countries, indicating a higher level of safety compared to Türkiye, which ranks 137th. While both countries have similar murder rates (2.6 for Mauritius and 2.5 for Türkiye per 100,000 people), Mauritius has a more favorable environment regarding organized crime. For instance, Mauritius scores significantly better on indices related to mafia groups, state crime, and human trafficking. Overall, while no destination is without risk, tourists from Türkiye can expect a relatively safe experience in Mauritius, supported by its higher safety rankings and lower organized crime indices.
