Mauritius is an appealing destination for some Moroccan travelers due to its beautiful beaches, lush landscapes, and rich cultural diversity. With around 600,000 Moroccans traveling abroad annually, a portion of them may be drawn to explore what Mauritius has to offer.
Mauritius is generally considered a safe destination for tourists, including those coming from Morocco. According to the Global Peace Index, Mauritius ranks 22nd out of 160 countries, indicating a higher level of safety compared to Morocco, which ranks 76th. In terms of crime statistics, the murder rate in Mauritius is 2.6 per 100,000 people, slightly higher than Morocco's rate of 1.9. However, the rates of female murders are also higher in Mauritius (1.8) compared to Morocco (0.5). The Global Organized Crime Index shows that Mauritius has lower scores in several categories compared to Morocco, indicating less organized crime. For instance, Mauritius scores 2.0 for mafia groups, while Morocco scores 1.0, and both countries have similar scores for crime networks (6.0 for Mauritius and 6.5 for Morocco). Overall, while there are some crime concerns, Mauritius is generally safer for tourists than Morocco, making it a favorable travel destination.
