Mauritius is an appealing destination for some Bulgarian travelers, thanks to its stunning beaches, lush scenery, and rich cultural diversity. With 4.1 million Bulgarians traveling abroad annually, a portion may find Mauritius an attractive option for leisure and adventure.
Mauritius is generally considered a safe destination for tourists, including those from Bulgaria. The Global Peace Index ranks Mauritius 22nd out of 160 countries, indicating a relatively high level of safety, comparable to Bulgaria's ranking of 26th. While Bulgaria has a lower murder rate (1.3 per 100,000) compared to Mauritius (2.6), both countries have similar safety profiles overall. In terms of organized crime, Mauritius scores better in several categories, such as mafia presence and arms trafficking, with lower indices than Bulgaria. However, it is important to note that Mauritius has higher scores for heroin and synthetic drug trade. Overall, tourists from Bulgaria can expect a reasonably safe environment in Mauritius, but standard travel precautions should always be observed.
