Mauritius is an appealing destination for visitors from the United Arab Emirates due to its stunning beaches, lush scenery, and rich cultural diversity. With 6.3 million Emiratis traveling abroad annually, a portion of them may find Mauritius an attractive option for leisure and adventure.
Mauritius is generally considered a safe destination for tourists, including those from the United Arab Emirates. According to the Global Peace Index, Mauritius ranks 22nd out of 160 countries, indicating a relatively high level of safety, while the UAE ranks 52nd. In terms of crime statistics, the murder rate in Mauritius is 2.6 per 100,000 people, compared to 0.5 in the UAE. However, the rates for female murders are also higher in Mauritius at 1.8, compared to 0.4 in the UAE. The Global Organized Crime Index suggests that while both countries face challenges, Mauritius has a lower score for mafia groups (2.0 vs. 1.0 in the UAE) and human smuggling (3.5 vs. 6.5 in the UAE), indicating a somewhat more favorable environment in these areas. Overall, while Mauritius has higher murder rates than the UAE, it remains a safe travel option, particularly when considering its ranking on the Global Peace Index. Tourists should always exercise standard safety precautions while traveling.
