Malta offers a compelling mix of history, culture, and modern tourism, making it an appealing destination for some travelers from Eswatini. With around 300,000 Swazis traveling abroad annually, a portion may find Malta's rich historical sites and Mediterranean charm attractive.
Malta is generally considered a safe destination for tourists, including those from Eswatini. It ranks 26th out of 40 European countries for safety while walking alone at night. In contrast, Eswatini has a higher murder rate of 12.7 per 100,000 people, compared to Malta's significantly lower rate of 0.4. According to the Global Organized Crime Index, both countries have similar scores for mafia presence (1.5), but Malta has higher scores in areas such as crime networks (7.0) and state crime (7.5), indicating some organized crime challenges. However, Malta's overall crime rates and murder statistics suggest a safer environment for tourists. In summary, while there are some organized crime concerns in Malta, the overall safety statistics indicate that it is a safer place for tourists compared to Eswatini.
