Malta is an appealing destination for some Saudi visitors due to its rich history, culture, and strategic Mediterranean location. With around one million international tourists annually, it offers a unique experience that could attract a portion of the 4.8 million Saudis who travel abroad each year.
Malta is generally considered safe for tourists, including those from Saudi Arabia. It ranks 26th among 40 European countries for safety while walking alone at night. In terms of murder rates, Malta has a lower rate (0.4 per 100,000 people) compared to Saudi Arabia (0.8). According to the Global Organized Crime Index, Malta scores better in several categories, such as mafia groups (1.5 for Malta vs. 3.0 for Saudi Arabia) and arms trafficking (2.5 for Malta vs. 8.0 for Saudi Arabia). However, it has higher scores in crime networks and state crime, indicating some organized crime presence. Overall, while both countries have their challenges, Malta presents a relatively safer environment for tourists.
