Malta, located in the Mediterranean, offers a blend of history, culture, and modern tourism, attracting around one million international visitors annually. It could appeal to a segment of Malaysia's 34 million population, particularly those interested in unique travel experiences.
Malta is generally considered safe for tourists, including those from Malaysia. It ranks 26th among 40 European countries in terms of safety while walking alone at night. The murder rate in Malta is lower than in Malaysia, with 0.4 per 100,000 people compared to Malaysia's 0.7. While Malaysia ranks 10th in the Global Peace Index, there is no comparable data for Malta. In terms of organized crime, Malta has lower indices for mafia presence and arms trafficking compared to Malaysia, indicating a relatively safer environment in these aspects. Overall, tourists from Malaysia can expect a safe experience in Malta, although it's always advisable to take standard precautions while traveling.
