Malta is generally considered safe for tourists, including those from Mauritius. It ranks 26th out of 40 European countries for safety while walking alone at night, although specific safety data for Mauritius is not available. In terms of murder rates, Malta has a significantly lower rate (0.4 per 100,000) compared to Mauritius (2.6 per 100,000). According to the Global Peace Index, Mauritius ranks 22nd globally, indicating a relatively high level of safety, while there is no corresponding ranking for Malta. In terms of organized crime, both countries have varying indices, with Malta having a slightly higher score in areas such as crime networks and state crime. However, Malta scores better in terms of mafia presence and certain drug trades. Overall, while both countries have their challenges, Malta is a safe destination for Mauritian tourists.
