Malta offers a unique blend of history, culture, and modern tourism, making it an appealing destination for some Iranian travelers. With 1.6 million Iranians traveling abroad annually, a portion may find Malta's rich historical sites and strategic Mediterranean location attractive.
Malta is generally considered a safe destination for tourists, including those from Iran. It ranks 26th out of 40 European countries for safety while walking alone at night, indicating a relatively low level of risk. In comparison, Iran is ranked 131st out of 160 countries in the Global Peace Index, which suggests higher levels of violence and crime. Murder rates also reflect this disparity, with Malta having a murder rate of 0.4 per 100,000 people, compared to Iran's rate of 2.2. Additionally, Malta scores significantly better than Iran in organized crime indices, indicating a lower prevalence of mafia groups and other criminal networks. Overall, while no specific data exists for Iranian tourists in Malta, the statistics suggest that Malta is a safer environment for travelers.
