Mauritania offers unique desert landscapes and a rich cultural heritage, making it an intriguing destination for a segment of Kuwait's population. While not a major player in global tourism, its distinct attractions may appeal to specific travelers from Kuwait.
Mauritania is generally considered less safe for tourists compared to Kuwait. According to the Global Peace Index, Mauritania ranks 93rd out of 160 countries, while Kuwait ranks 25th. The murder rate in Mauritania is 1.0 per 100,000 people, compared to Kuwait's very low rate of 0.3. In terms of organized crime, Kuwait scores better across various categories. For example, the mafia groups index rates Kuwait at 1.0 and Mauritania at 2.5. Additionally, state crime is rated at 7.0 for Mauritania compared to 6.0 for Kuwait.
