Mongolia offers a unique blend of ancient traditions and stunning landscapes, making it an appealing destination for some Turkish travelers. With 2.7 million Turks traveling abroad annually, there is potential interest in exploring Mongolia, despite its developing tourism infrastructure.
Mongolia is generally considered a safe destination for tourists, including those from Türkiye. The Global Peace Index ranks Mongolia 44th out of 160 countries, indicating a relatively peaceful environment, especially compared to Türkiye, which ranks 137th. While specific safety data for walking alone at night in Mongolia is unavailable, the country has lower organized crime indices in several categories compared to Türkiye. For instance, Mongolia scores better in mafia presence (2.0 vs. 8.0) and human trafficking (4.5 vs. 7.0). However, it's worth noting that Mongolia has a higher murder rate (6.2 per 100,000 people) compared to Türkiye (2.5), which may be a consideration for travelers. Overall, while there are some safety concerns, especially regarding violent crime, Mongolia is viewed as safer than Türkiye in many respects, making it a viable option for tourists.
